So tired....

and yet they fight so hard to stay awake!! I love walking into a room and finding one of them randomly sleeping...it's so cute! I love my kids!!
Brian was out of town, and so I let Kaid stay up with me a little longer than I usually would. I was in the kitchen doing dishes and this is what I came back to! He was so conked out his mouth was hanging open!

I was tired of fighting Brielle to take a nap so I just put her in her bouncer to play for a while. After about 3 minutes it was quiet and this is what I found!

Happy Birthday Brian!

Okay, so I know that this is a few days past due (his birthday was on Sunday), but I could not miss this post. Brian is such an amazing person. He is my sun, the thing in which my whole world revolves around. He is an amazing father, a wonderful husband and an all around good man. I am grateful each day for his dedication to our family, to our marriage, to me, and to the things that he loves. He does not do things half way. When Brian came home from his mission, and I finally realized how much I loved him, I didn't think I could love him anymore. Then our wedding day, and I was sure there would never be a time when I would be able to love him more than I did that day. Then we had our two kids, and we go through trials and triumphs together, we support each other and help each other find and realize our dreams. Each day I think that I can't love and appreciate him anymore than I do in that moment, and then a new day starts and I find that I have the capacity to love him even more. I am grateful each day for you Brian. You make my little part of this world complete. I love you!! Happy birthday!!

I had to include this one...it's so Brian!!

He even goes along with me when the last things he wants to do on his cruise is lay out!!

Happy Birthday Oma!!

Last Thursday Oma turned 84 tears old! This year when I asked Kaid what he wanted to do for Oma for her birthday he told me he wanted to read her his favorite book, Goodnight Moon. He has it memorized, so it worked out great. It made my memory flood with all kinds of wonderful memories to watch him read to her. Oma used to read to me all the time. She loved when I would ask her to read to me. It was on a trip one year to visit Aunt Jerry with Oma that I officially learned how to read. Very appropriate for her birthday now that she can no longer read. I do know that she is in there somewhere. After a few moments of rubbing her face, looking in her eyes and telling her how much I love her, she said she loved me too. I am grateful for a lifetime of memories that she and my Opa gave to me. The things that they taught me and the example that they set for me has helped and continues to help shape my life. I hope I make them proud of me! I love you, Happy Birthday Oma!!

Kaid likes to visit Oma. He asks me from time to time if we can go and see her. I love taking him, he often tells me while we are there that Opa is there. I am always grateful for the things that that little guy can teach me!

We love you Oma!

Blessed

My life is blessed everyday is SO many ways. I am blessed to have health, an AMAZING husband, great kids and awesome friends. I am grateful everyday for what I have!
Last weekend was an awesome one for me! I completed my first triathlon (in under 2 hours I might add!!), it was my birthday and mother's day! How much better can it get than that!!
This year my birthday fell on Mother's Day! This is my morning "donut" (because I don't like donuts, but they are a Melcher birthday tradition) was accompanied by an amazing rendition of Happy Birthday sung by the very talented Kaid Melcher! I got this birthday card that sings happy birthday, and Kaid listened to it over and over until he had it memorized. I must say, he has talent! :)

My afternoon birthday cake (thank you Kristen!). This was also followed by an evening "birthday pie" get together with friends. We got pie's from Marie Calendar's, I had the Apple Struessel, and it was to die for. Even a week later I am opening the fridge wishing there were some more left over!

This is my very good friend Kristen. We both have family that live in town, but on this very rare occasion both of our families were out of town. Because of that we got to celebrate Mother's Day together! Our husbands cooked us dinner (which included lobster...mmmmm) and we got to just enjoy each others company stress free!

My lobster, and let me tell you....he tasted good!!

If I may, a little time for bragging! I am incredibly proud of myself for this accomplishment! I completed a triathlon!! And I loved it so much that I have already found another one that I will be working towards! 2 years ago there would have been no way that I could have done this, but I really enjoy being active, and especially with friends! This picture is of Maren (on the left), me and Brynn (on the right). Maren got me excited and motivated to do this...THANKS Maren!

From the Left: Kristen, me, Alexis, Mary and Maren

This was pre-race...cute swim cap huh?
Isn't my little family so cute! Brian is forever supportive of me. But especially while I trained and prepared for this race. He was so proud of me and that made me want it even more! Look at Kaid's cool sunglasses!! :) They always make me laugh out loud. I am SO glad that my family was there to cheer me on! My parents and all my siblings were there too. I am very blessed to have such an amazing support system.

Kristen and I post race

Maren and I post race

Brielle and I post race. Look at her cute hat!!
To sum it all up, last weekend was one to remember for me. Brian made my birthday and Mother's Day each special and amazing individually even though they were on the same day. I accomplished quite a personal achievement and milestone in my life. I am truly blessed.

Brielle REALLY enjoyed her lunch today!!

What a mess!! But she really enjoyed it, and that's what matters right? She even got it all over her bow and in her ears and eyelashes. What a clean up I had!

Little Muscle Man

How do you like the accidental summer hair cut!! I guess I should just be thankful it actually is summer!

I have really wanted to start a toning program. I found this program that is a home video program and really all you need is weights. (I like it because I can do it while Brielle is taking her morning nap.) Kaid is so cute! He found my little 2 pound weights and does it along with me. He even makes noise when he blows his air out, and asks me if he is doing it right! It definitely makes the workout more fun! He is turning into my little muscle man!!
